Legacy Grove Society

A nurse log is a large fallen tree that serves as the growing site for young trees and plants. In nature's grand cycle, old-growth nurse logs become life-giving sanctuaries for countless organisms, fostering biodiversity and sustaining the vitality of the entire ecosystem.

Similarly, you can play a vital role in the ongoing legacy of our forests even after your time on this earth.

Leaving a Lasting Legacy

After taking care of your loved ones, consider including OGFN as a beneficiary in your estate plan. In doing so, you will become part of a special group—our Legacy Grove Society—that plays a key role in ensuring the network of protected older forests continues to expand in all corners of the country.

Have questions? Your financial advisor or bank should be able to discuss your personal situation. If you need assistance informing us of your intentions contact Kayla Green, Development Director, at kayla@oldgrowthforest.net or leave us a voicemail at (404) 585-0329. We will contact you promptly.

Membership Benefits

As part of the Legacy Grove Society, you will receive:

  • Personal updates on OGFN activities

  • Invitations to exclusive OGFN events including guided old-growth forest excursions

With a Legacy Grove Society membership, you are also entitled to a discounted green burial at the "Spirit Sanctuary" at Black Kettle burial area in Essex, New York through the generosity of the Eddy Foundation.

Spirit Sanctuary is a green cemetery and conservation site in the Adirondacks and is setting an example that could help the burial industry adapt to the very modern problem of climate change.
