Tony Grove Lake Area - Mt Naomi Wilderness

The Tony Grove Recreation Area surrounds a picturesque mountain lake and is a major gateway to the Mount Naomi Wilderness. It has been designated a US Forest Service Wildflower Viewing Area. The Naomi Peak National Recreation Trail winds uphill amidst towering old-growth Subalpine Fir-Engelmann Spruce as well as Douglas Fir. This area includes the National Champion Engelmann Spruce estimated to be between 400 and 800 years old, and a close runner up.  Much of the remaining Wilderness area supports substantial stands of old growth Subalpine Fir-Engelmann Spruce, Douglas fir and limber pine forests.

Other trails from Tony Grove take you either deep into the Mt. Naomi Wilderness or up to White Pine Lake. All trails are scenic and provide wonderful opportunities to view wildflowers, which are at their peak from July through early August, as well as old-growth forests.
