Dunwoody Nature Center
The Dunwoody Nature Center sits on 22-acres of public land in the midst of suburban neighborhoods and retail centers with 3 distinct ecosystem habitats: 1) Piedmont forests, 2) natural wetlands & 3) a rocky stream more commonly found in the mountainous foothills 100 miles north. While much of the forest was farmed in the past century there are specimen trees near an old homestead site and along the steep slopes (that were unable to be farmed) approaching the stream. Some majestic White Oaks and American Beech trees could approach 200 years of age.
