Berns-Meyer Nature Preserve
This 20 acre preserve contains two major tree cover types whose occurrence is related to soil type and soil moisture. Most of the area is a mixed mesophytic woodland with red, white oak, tulip tree, sugar maple, basswood, and shagbark hickory as important species. In the poorly drained areas black ash, red maple, pin oak, and swamp white oak become important. The preserve is rich in spring wildflowers including marsh marigold and the unusual-looking green dragon.
